Australia to prepare for ‘at least a 15 round bout’ with Beijing over Pacific

China shelving its multilateral agreement with Pacific nations is “just the first round”, according to The Australian’s Greg Sheridan.

“Beijing has shown such enormous strategic commitment to the South Pacific that this is at least a 15 round bout,” Mr Sheridan told Sky News Australia.

“As far as I know, no American secretary of state has ever done a tour of the South Pacific comparable with that being done by Wang Yi.

“Australia has won the first round on points, that’s great, but don’t think Beijing is going away.”Read More
