Albanese pushed to intervene over Assange extradition

Former foreign minister Bob Carr says the Albanese government should demand the release of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

Mr Assange will be extradited to the US to face espionage charges, in a move approved by the United Kingdom government late last week.

There are reports the government is lobbying for his release and has raised the case with senior United States officials.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his ministers say they will not participate in “megaphone diplomacy” on the issue.Read More
